Emmy Award Winning U.K. Casting Director Joyce Nettles will be holding three workshops on audition technique at the Gate Lab on Thursday August 4th and Friday August 5th. Joyce NettlesJoyce Nettles was Head of Casting at the RSC for 10 years under the Artistic Directorship of Trevor Nunn. She worked on a regular basis with Jonathan Kent when he was Artistic Director of the Almeida Theatre; and she also cast the Almeida’s acclaimed productions of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, directed by Rupert Goold, and Waste, directed by Sam West. She cast three productions with the great German director Peter Stein: The Seagull, Blackbird and Troilus and Cressida, all for the Edinburgh International Festival, and has also worked with Peter Hall and Peter Brook. Other recent theatre credits include Jonathan Miller’s production of The Cherry Orchard for the Sheffield Crucible Theatre, Death of a Salesman, And Then There Were None, As You Desire Me, The Country Wife, Glengarry Glen Ross and The Sea (all West End), Deborah Warner’s production of Julius Caesar at the Barbican, Trevor Nunn’s production of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2009 and Rupert Goold’s hugely successful production of Enron. Most recently she cast The Deep Blue Sea and Rattigan’s Nijinsky, also for the Chichester Festival Theatre. Her television credits include several series of Midsomer Murders and Foyle’s War, two series of live drama for Sky, episodes of Kavanagh QC and Inspector Morse, the award-winning Goodnight Mister Tom and several films for HBO, including RKO 281 for which she won an Emmy. Her film credits include Zeffirelli’s Hamlet and several films with Lars von Trier, including Breaking the Waves. |
