The Gate Welcomes


New Director

Selina Cartmell

The Board of Directors and staff of the Gate Theatre would like to extend a warm welcome to Selina Cartmell who is the new Director of the Gate from Monday 3rd April 2017.

Selina Cartmell has directed a diverse range of work from Greek tragedy and Shakespeare, to international work and contemporary Irish drama. Her productions have been nominated for thirty five Irish Times Theatre Awards, winning ten, including three for best Director. She directed three award–winning productions for the Gate, Catastrophe, Festen and Sweeney Todd, described in the Guardian as ‘a new dawn for the theatre’.

Selina will unveil her inaugural season on 17th May with her first production opening on 12th July 2017.

We look forward to many theatrical adventures in this exciting new era for the Gate.
