That’s the Irish people all over
– they treat a joke as a serious thing and a serious thing as a joke
Séan O’Casey

From 14 May 2020

In O’Casey’s classic Irish play, set in the streets of northside Dublin exactly 100 years ago, war rages as Irish revolutionaries clash with British forces. Aspiring poet Donal Davoren tries to avoid the conflict, but when he learns of a rumour that he is a gunman on the run, he cannot resist the curiosity it stirs in beautiful young Minnie Powell… and he cannot escape the politics that are exploding all around him.
