Since the Gate opened almost a century ago, our ethos has never changed — to offer a different perspective on theatre, bound only by the limits of our imagination. Our theatre has always been a vibrant hub in our capital’s historic and contemporary creative culture.
History shows that the Gate has survived crises and come back stronger. In 2021, the Gate will re- emerge with a new and inspiring plan for the future. We are proud to say we are still a resilient team, working with our artists at the heart of all we do. We have been working diligently over the past months to create an exciting and relevant programme and we are excited about when and how we will reimagine our theatre, on reopening.
The Gate Theatre has always relied heavily on the loyalty of our audience to sustain the work that we do, producing original, crafted theatre. We are in an exceptional and challenging position that we must look to our audience to keep us operational each year.
If you wish to consider supporting the Gate Theatre to work on inclusive projects and to support creative artists, we would deeply appreciate your donation.
Patrons and Friends of The Gate have been an integral part of the success of our much-loved theatre since its foundation in 1928. Their extraordinary generosity, in all different ways has helped us create extraordinary theatre.
There are many ways you may wish to make a difference by supporting The Gate. You may have a passion for supporting emerging talent, you may love the fact that the Gate commissions new exciting writers, you may want to conserve the uniqueness of our Georgian building; whatever it is that makes theatre unique for you at the Gate, it is worthy of support.
